Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a crucial role in helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice went beyond her legal practice as she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
