THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and legal research.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work played a significant role in helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law - custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
